A big thank you to our local legislators who took the time out of their very busy schedules to attend our annual Legislative Breakfast, held this year at Camp Cochipianee in Goshen.
Rep. Case spoke passionately about his work with the underserved and vulnerable populations, including those with mental illness and disabilities as well as affordable housing and bringing down the cost of electricity.
Sen. Honig shared new and exciting information about upcoming scientific methods for extracting geothermal heat and power from the earth, which will be a game-changer for our utility bills.
Rep. Canino explained the Republican plan for bringing down the cost of the Eversource bills in CT, including eliminating the public benefits portion of the bill, utilizing in-state energy sources and more. He also spoke of securing funds and plans for a specialized school for autistic children in the Torrington area.
Representative John Piscopo has been faithfully attending our Legislative breakfast events for 20+ years! He spoke about the complicated process of securing energy for our state and how the legislature will seek to lower bills, as well as prioritize budgeting for the most vulnerable citizens.
Christine Horrigan, also a member of the LWVLC Board, once again served as moderator of this wonderful annual event.
Denise Butwill and Erin Strouse were excited to see the wonderful turnout for this event!
